Hyde No.4 is a Dark Caribbean Rum Cask finished Single Malt Irish Whiskey, making it one of our most unique single malt bottlings from Hyde to date. Triple distilled on a traditional copper pot still in 2012 from 100% malted barley. This Single Malt was then aged in 200 Litre flame charred, ex-bourbon, oak casks sourced from Kentucky in the USA, before being transferred into 200 Litre, flame charred, dark rum casks from Barbados in the Caribbean, for a further six months of finishing. The flamed bourbon casks initially impart a sweet vanilla and caramel influence, followed by the toasted sherry casks character which adds a spicy, dried fruit finish to the final smooth taste.

Aroma
Passion fruit, stewed plums, a kick of five-spice.

Palate
Malty at first, with plenty of creamy vanilla too. Soon enough, a layer of dried pineapple and mango notes develop.

Finish
Spicy coriander, figs and buttered bread.
